Mike Bidgood of GSS Geoscience, in collaboration with Dr Mike Simmons (Halliburton) and Dr Dave Jutson (Hérisson Argent), offers a series of courses of 1,2 and 4-day duration on "Applied Biostratigraphy". The course is presented to industry and academia including Masters level courses at Manchester, Royal Holloway (UCL), Istanbul (Turkey) and Chulalongkorn (Bangkok, Thailand) universities and previously at Herriot Watt, Aberdeen and Brunei universities. It is also presented annually to groups of PhD students from various UK universities as part of the NERC-CDT (Centre for Doctoral Training) program for students in the Oil & Gas field and at the AAPG ICE conference in London in 2017.

Dr Dave Jutson teaches an Applied Biostratigraphy class among the fossil marine reptiles at Bonn University.

The course illustrates how biostratigraphic data can be used in the hydrocarbon exploration & production industry with a series of short lectures and guided exercises which rely on no previous knowledge of paleontological information and theory.

The 2017 NERC-CDT class construct a sequence stratigraphic breakdown (based on biostratigraphy) for a Gulf of Mexico well, at the RNLI headquarters in Poole, Dorset.
The MSc Petroleum Geology class of 2018, Chulalongkorn University, Thailand, during an exercise in "Biosteering".
